AI Transparency Notice
What Gerai’s narrow AI-assisted commerce features do, what they do not do, and when a person must review or take over.
1. Plain-language summary
This notice applies to Gerai’s own AI-assisted product features. It does not describe every tool a merchant independently chooses to use outside Gerai. A merchant remains the seller; Gerai’s AI does not become the seller or assume the merchant’s obligations.
2. Where Gerai uses AI
| Feature area | Intended assistance | Required human boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Catalogue preparation | Help turn merchant-supplied product facts and ordinary source material into draft catalogue content | The merchant or a person working with the merchant checks factual accuracy, rights, claims, and suitability before publication |
| Product imagery | Generate or enhance product presentation from merchant source photographs | Images used for a live shop are reviewed by a person and must not falsely represent the product |
| Routine conversational assistance | Help handle defined, repeatable parts of a merchant-buyer conversation using available merchant and order context | Questions outside the supported scope, uncertain answers, exceptions, and disputes move to a person |
The exact features available can depend on the merchant implementation. Gerai will update this notice if it introduces a materially different customer-facing AI use. A feature being described here does not mean it is active for every merchant or buyer.
3. Inputs and outputs
Catalogue and imagery
Inputs may include product names, descriptions, attributes, prices, variants, merchant instructions, and photographs supplied by or for the merchant. Outputs may include draft text, formatting, translations, image variations, or other proposed catalogue material.
Conversational assistance
Inputs may include the buyer’s message, the merchant’s approved catalogue and operating information, and relevant cart or order context. Outputs may include a draft or delivered routine response, a request for clarification, or a handoff to a person.
AI output is generated from patterns and available context. It is not a verified database record merely because it sounds confident. The authoritative source for a product, price, stock position, order decision, fulfilment commitment, refund, or exception remains the merchant or the relevant system record confirmed by a person.
4. Labels and human involvement
Gerai uses plain-language disclosure where AI involvement is material to how a person should interpret content or an interaction. The label may appear near generated content, within a conversation, or in merchant workflow context. A label is a transparency aid, not a claim that every risk has been removed.
Human involvement includes:
- reviewing merchant source material and the factual claims to be published;
- checking that generated product imagery remains a fair representation of the real item;
- approving or correcting live-shop content;
- taking over conversations that require judgement, negotiation, empathy, or an exception;
- confirming consequential order, fulfilment, return, or refund actions; and
- investigating a reported error or harmful output.
Merchants must not remove or obscure an AI disclosure where doing so would mislead a buyer.
5. Limitations
Gerai AI can fail in ways that include:
- inventing a product fact, policy, stock position, or order detail;
- misreading ambiguous, incomplete, mixed-language, colloquial, or misspelled input;
- producing an image that changes a material product feature, colour, scale, texture, quantity, packaging, or accessory;
- missing cultural, legal, accessibility, or local-market context;
- repeating bias or unsuitable patterns present in models, source material, or instructions;
- giving a fluent answer even when the available information is insufficient;
- failing to recognise urgency, distress, sarcasm, fraud, or a special circumstance; or
- becoming outdated when merchant information or a real-world situation changes.
Gerai does not publish invented accuracy, precision, recall, bias-testing, model-version, update-frequency, monitoring, or audit claims. No percentage can replace review of whether a particular output is correct for the actual merchant, product, buyer, and transaction.
6. Decisions AI does not make
The AI-assisted features described here are not designed or authorised to make final decisions about a person’s legal rights, credit, employment, insurance, access to essential services, or another similarly significant matter. They must not be repurposed for those uses.
Within Gerai’s commerce boundary:
- the merchant decides what it sells and whether and how it fulfils an order;
- licensed payment services, not Gerai AI, handle payment credentials and payment authorisation;
- Gerai does not hold buyer funds;
- a merchant or person handles disputed, exceptional, or consequential buyer outcomes; and
- AI output is not legal, medical, financial, tax, safety, or other professional advice.
Automated technical controls may protect service security or route workflows, but this notice does not claim that an AI model independently determines a person’s legal or similarly significant outcome.
7. Privacy and data
Personal data used in an AI-assisted feature remains subject to the Privacy Policy, the merchant’s buyer notice where the merchant controls the purpose, and any agreed merchant processing terms. Users should supply only the information reasonably needed for the task and should not place unnecessary sensitive data, secrets, payment credentials, or identity documents into an AI interaction.
Gerai does not identify AI model providers, processing locations, retention periods, or training arrangements on this public page unless they have been verified for the applicable service scope. Merchants with procurement requirements should request current details through the Data Processing Addendum information page before onboarding.
Payment credentials are handled by licensed payment services, not by Gerai’s conversational AI. Buyers should enter payment information only in the payment service’s designated secure flow.
8. Merchant and buyer responsibilities
Merchants
Merchants must:
- provide accurate and current source information;
- hold the rights and permissions needed for submitted text, images, brands, and personal data;
- review generated content before publication and after material source changes;
- ensure imagery does not mislead buyers about the product they will receive;
- maintain a practical human route for questions, exceptions, complaints, and corrections; and
- comply with the Acceptable Use Policy.
Buyers
Buyers should treat AI-assisted responses as a convenience, not as a guarantee. Check important product, price, availability, delivery, return, and order details with the merchant when they are unclear or consequential. Do not submit another person’s data, payment credentials, or sensitive information into a conversation unless it is necessary and lawful.
9. Reporting and human review
If an AI-generated image, catalogue statement, translation, or response appears wrong, misleading, harmful, discriminatory, or unrelated, stop relying on it and ask for a person. Buyers should normally contact the merchant identified on the storefront because the merchant controls the product and sales relationship.
You can also report the issue to hello@gerai.shop. Include the storefront, merchant, product or order reference, approximate time, the output at issue, and the correction sought. Do not send payment credentials or unrelated personal data.
Gerai or the merchant may review the source information, conversation context, system record, and reported output; correct or remove content; route the matter to the appropriate person; or restrict a feature while a concern is assessed. This page does not promise a response time, remedy, or appeal outcome beyond applicable law and any separate written agreement.
10. Changes and contact
Gerai may update this notice as AI-assisted features are added, changed, restricted, or removed. The effective and last-updated dates above identify the current public version. Material feature-specific disclosures may also appear where the feature is used.
General, privacy, merchant, or legal questions about Gerai AI can be sent to hello@gerai.shop. Please state whether you are contacting us as a merchant, buyer, prospective customer, or another party so the question can be routed appropriately.
